Have you ever wondered what it would be like to really love your life? To wake up excited about your day, no matter what it includes?

Life often doesn’t set you up for actually creating a life where you know who you really are, and therefore be able to live life in congruency with your true values and ideals! You get squished, squashed and gaslit into fitting into the image that others around you have of how you “ought” to be. And so one day, you wake up wondering what on earth happened, how you ended up in this particular life and what you can do to change it.

It can feel completely impossible to make the changes you need to-where do you even start? What do you actually want? And what can you do without completely setting fire to your current life?

Yeah, I’ve been there. I spent years waking up miserable every morning. And I didn’t even dislike my job, I just had such a hard time getting it all to work together! I couldn’t figure out who I was meant to be at work. I couldn’t figure out how what I was doing would lead to joy and contentment in my life. I struggled with juggling all the responsibilities of adult life, in part because I was using up so much energy being anxious, social phobic and depressed. I worried about EVERYTHING, so there wasn’t much energy and focus left. I hid behind a face of makeup so others didn’t see the “real me”. I was absolutely sure I’d get found out-although I wasn’t even sure what they’d be finding out!

Now it may come as a surprise to some, but I don’t like being depressed and anxious and stressed! I kept trying everything I could think of to try to feel better, but it took me a while to figure out which method worked for me. Once I was able to figure out who I wanted to be, truly, I was able to leave behind some of those anxieties-they simply didn’t serve me any more. Learning about the Script meant that I could sometimes ignore it…not all the time, but sometimes. And it meant I could reduce the amount of beating myself up I was doing, because I could recognise I was doing my best, and that COULD be good enough while I was learning.

I learned that I am sensitive, and that’s okay. Now that took a little longer to get my head round and to truly accept. I still have my moments of wishing I could be “tougher” sometimes, but 99% of the time I’m trying to create a softer corner of the world instead. I don’t need to harden to the world. I can soften the world instead. Maybe not all of it. But my little bit, definitely. I handle things the way that it’s right FOR ME. Is that how others would do it? Absolutely not. It’s right for me, and that’s the important thing. Sometimes, that means I take the path of least resistance, sometimes it means standing up for something others might not agree with. Sometimes, it just means crying buckets in the theatre (thank goodness for waterproof mascara)! I’m “quirky”. I’m “odd”. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea-and that’s okay!

I want everyone to be able to discover who they are and become confident in their own selves! It’s a bit of a mission for me, actually. I am trying to create a corner of the world where we can be safe being ourselves, and enjoy it!

Will you join me?
